It seems that weddings have been dragged into the digital age. Having your own personal wedding web site has never been so popular and an increasing number of couples sign up for one every year.
So why should you have a web site for your wedding? Well they are a perfect way of keeping everyone concerned up to date with all the latest news and developments with your wedding. You can post information such as travel details, accommodation and even just a running diary of how your wedding planning is going.

Many companies will offer you a free web site, whilst others will make a charge which will cover you until after your wedding day. Free web sites tend can be rather basic, offering perhaps only two or three pages, a basic photo gallery and maybe features such as a calendar. They will then try to tempt you into spending more money by adding on other features such as an extended photo gallery, an RSVP service, gift registry details and a wealth of little widgets such as weather reports, travel news and even a wedding day countdown!

But for a bride with a lot on her plate a web site can be worth its weight in gold in terms of being able to hand out information at the touch of a button. Having is also useful to your vendors who can log in to your site to see how your wedding planning is coming and also to leave you messages. Web sties also give you the added benefit of being able to bulk email your guests should you need to inform them of something important before the day -’bring an umbrella it is going to rain’ for instance!

Some sites will also offer you the chance to customize the look and feel of your site with various templates and editing options. Don’t be put off if you are not that technically minded, these sites are incredibly easy to use and the best ones will always have help and support available should you need it.
Depending on how long you have purchased you site for, they can be very useful after the wedding day as a means of showing everyone your wedding photographs and video. In turn this can allow your guests to order any pictures they want.

As with everything wedding related, do some research before deciding on a web site provider. Some offer lots of features for a hefty price, whilst others give a good range of features for nothing. Work out what it is you want to do with your site and more importantly who will be responsible for up dating it on a regular basis! Lastly don’t forget to add the cost of the site into your wedding budget or you could be left scratching your heads wondering where that extra bit of cash you thought you had has gone!
